The Serpent in Genesis 3 Is a Chaos Monster

Luke uses similar language to how Jesus did things in the gospel. Matthew does this in his gospel when he portrays Jesus in many ways as sort of a new Moses number of times in Matthew Jesus goes up on a mountain. When Matthew does that, alert readers should be thinking of Moses. In fact, like I already mentioned, Jesus says that John the Baptist is Elijah. And so it's become natural for readers of the Bible to imagine that the serpent or snake or whatever is going on there in Genesis 3, that that's actually Satan tempting Adam and Eve.
