Sungmin's mom took him to a psychologist in 2008. She said that he seemed to have beliefs that just weren't aligned or grounded in reality. Sungmin was at the point where he was so far removed from reality that he couldn't mentally take care of himself. His mental condition was worsening and in 2011, he was hospitalized for six months.
