Rooney's View of the Fire of Hell

Rooney characterizes his view to be consistent with two saints. The first is the Syriac Saint, Saint Isaac of Nineveh. He believes that heaven and hell contain the same fire of God but just receive differently as joy in heaven and as distress and hell. Rooney refers to for his understanding of the fire of hell as Saint Maximus Confessor. It's almost impossible to make sense of Maximus' system without universalism.
