Navigating the Pacific Ocean

In many of these societies, or maybe all of them, a navigational law seems to have been something that was often kept secret and only shared with a small group of initiated experts. So it wasn't just that everybody in a micronesia or polynesian society knew how to navigate uh on the open ocean. And i think that will make even more sense as we'd get into some of the details of, say, navigating by stars - you realize that this required specialized training and a specialized eye.
