The DoD's Influence on Foreign Policy
When you get up to like the 05 level, when you start talking about commanders, majors, these people are almost uniformly impressive people. But if there is anything in your record whatsoever that is even remotely controversial, remotely, you're just not gonna make it. You're done at 06 period. So it fosters this extreme risk aversion among the officer corps. And yet they still understand their job, you know, they understand the risks that are out there.
