The epic of the bourgeoisie possesses this distinct feature. It is simplified class antagonisms. They suggest perhaps, though, that other classes gradually disappear or at least become less relevant. But nowhere in the text does Marx and Engels say they're eradicating all intermediary classes. What they are getting at is that these are increasingly powerful centers of gravity. And so if you are a member of the petty bourgeois your field of operations will be increasingly defined by those gravitational forces.
