When Yazdagurd's son Peraz was killed and his army destroyed, the White Huns weren't interested in conquering Persia. The defeat triggered internal revolt and reorganization by the Persian nobility. Kavad needed a pretext for war though, and the tight-fisted reputation of Anastasius provided it.
