Mnuchin: Until you have that alliance, it's very hard to have credibility and challenge. He was a polarizing figure in the field of family therapy at the time. The psychoanalytic model was one where patients don't even see the therapist behind them. So when that became more of a presence, how do we use ourselves as an instrument of change? And I'm curious what you think about how Sal dealt with critiques or maybe parts of the model that have not aged as well.
