John Langdon's on School of Island
Langdon adapts old school methods in the manner he chooses to tell a horror tale, most emphatically in his collections first two stories. On School of Island starts with a group of acquaintances gathered at a home by the sea, swapping ghost stories. The title story more effectively evokes that disquieting mood. Langdon admits to being a fan of the work of another 19th century James,. Henry James, and certainly that influence is evident here too.
