The Water Margin by Xiao Zhen-Hong

Xiao Zhen-Hong created the 108 different male and female characters from The Water Margin. He collected a large number of drawings, pictures and other materials about these figures for reference. For each figure he decided to return to the novel itself and design each figure based on what was described in the original work combined with his own imagination. Usually it will only take him about half an hour to make a simple art-heard figurine. But for each of the water margin heroes and the fighting scenes depicted in the book, it often took him months to finish. In northern China, the weather is usually dry all year round. Dough-figurines can be well preserved in such climate.
