Can Religion Survive Modernity?
Is it just sociological coincidence that modernity has figured out how to give more agency to the self? Or is there a kind of revolt against another tendency in religion that was more elevated in pre-modern times? The people that pushed that revolt tended to be more on the secular side. I would guess that to some extent, your two-by-two tables capturing something culturally about modernity.
