The Complexity of Brewing
In 1300, if you look at who's brewing among women, it's mostly wives. After the Black death, wives are disadvantaged in the sense that a wife is under the authority of her husband. Single women and widows can't brew on the scale because they simply lack the resources. They're legally disadvantaged when it comes to the kinds of things that would allow them to gain access to extended networks.
