The History of the Aztecs
Our story begins around the year 13 hundred a d and by this time, the valley of mexico looked like a very different place. The vast ruins of tiotiwakan and toltec civilization could be seen all around, crumbling into the earth. In the vacuum left by the tolteks, a people known as the tepane had grown to exert power over the other cities of the valley. These were the people who would one day be called the aztecs.
