The Importance of Symptomatology
The author says he was inspired by two sources. One is Freud's book on masoch, the other a quote from Markusa. He uses sadism and masochism as conceptual entities to diagnose certain features that we see in society. These are diagnostic concepts whose creator is not the author but capitalist production rather than psychology.
