The Importance of Moral Accountability in Society

If everybody suddenly became a hard determinist, would the public view people that are making and perfecting algorithms differently? Would they start to see them as people that are manufacturing addiction? There's no guarantee that anything like this actually works in practice. But at the very least, what I think anybody having this conversation has to concede is that if we ever went in that direction, we'd definitely be running some brand new experiments That haven't ever been tried at the largest scales of society.
