The book makes an imp ant attempt to understand how indian politics has been shaped over twentieth century. The western europe underwent a series of things, reformation, renise or industrial revolution, that produced certain cleavages in those societies. Those were the cleavages that shaped western europe. Now, coming to countries like india, we never underwent those historical experiences, like we never had a industrial revolution. So once you start reading or referring to the documents from a freedam movement, we know that there wer certain excets on which ore a founding fathers and e there were only a few women in the consequent assemblies that were debating about these things.
