I think part of the reason that we're so focused on the Made in role is partly as you say, because it's a very consumerist kind of product. Women's lives tend to be more clearly segmented by reproductive stage than maybe men's are less so. And I think that part of the resistance to this natural progression comes among women. So much feminism of the second wave has been about trying to be more masculine in every way,. That's why I called chapter two men and women a different. There is a sexual asymmetry that is never going away.
