How Do We Aabide in Dhammas Contemplating the Dhamma?
The Buddha uses two well-known similes to describe how these hindrances impact the mind. He says that sense desire is like pouring colored dye into the water, so it colors one's perception. Sloth and Topper is said to be that bowl of water that's overgrown with algae, so it's a state of stagnation of mind. Restlessness in worry is like the water being wind swept; this is the mind, restlessness in worry.
