At certain points in my career, I feel like I wanted a really strong boundary between work and real life. Like one, I just didn't know what co-worker friendships look like. And two, I think I was a little intimidated by the friendships that already existed at work because my company is very close. Once I made that switch to being open to building more personal relationships at work, that's when I felt like 40 hours of my day weren't just committed to doing the assignment. It was like, that me is also real and deserves interpersonal connections and inside jokes and things that make you not hate yourself.
