The Library of Alexander
Alexandria may have been home to over 400 thousand papyrus scrolls and other literary documents. The last mention of alexander's mummified corpse was in three 90, before it completely vanishes from the sources. Waves of christian and then moslem aggression against pagans had either destroyed or re purposed all the pagan temples. A series of earthquakes in the mediaeval period levelled the old lighthouse. And as for the great library, well, no one was exactly sure that one either way. By 18 88, it was long gone.
