Space Shuttle Technology

Congress mandated that space shuttle technology be extended and adapted to build this system. If something goes wrong, then it's conceivable the crew may not survive or escape with their lives. That has happened on one launch, Challenger, many years ago. Nobody wants a repeat of that. They're actually quite glad that this thing is going through a learning curve because their lives are on the light.
