A hypothesis that's been put forth to potentially explain why training at long muscle links is particularly effective for hypertrophy is the concept of stretch mediated hypertrophy. The thing is, we're not there yet. That is still a hypothesis that hasn't been fully proven. But if you are interested in approaching this from an empirical perspective, like every discreet step in that train of logic, it hasn't be fully proven and elucidated yet. It sure would be nice to have human evidence showing that stretching itself posed a hypertrophy stimulus to the muscle itself.
