The Roots of Sexual Violence in the DRC

During the months of lockdown caused by COVID-19, local activists reported a rise in sexual violence. It follows a global trend during the pandemic where all types of violence against women and girls intensified. Activist organization Sufi Padih has been raising awareness of domestic abuse using social media and the radio. For some campaigners, the panacea to sexual violence crimes will only come with political and social change.
