The Tension Between the Past and the Future
There is this tension between what we seem to learn from our controlled laboratory microscopic empirical experience of the world and what we appear to learn from everyday macroscopic experience. And there is a scientific question of how to put these two domains of our experience together. Of what we should make of this tension sitting right at the heart of the scientific project of investigating the fundamental physical laws of the world. So that's more or less the content of the first class in this course.
