The Transfiguration and the Transfiguration of Christ's Glory
Jesus had said that he would do these things, that they would see the kingdom before some of them had tasted death. Peter is still alive, but he seems to be hastening towards death. And so somehow this promise has to be fulfilled. The events of the transfiguration are a full dressed rehearsal of this later revelation of christ's glory. That they have seen christ's glory on that mountain, and they know that it's there. It's just a question of when it's going to be revealed to the world.
