A few years ago, we were at a conference where you gave a paper about recent migrants from china who were playing a really active role in reshaping chinese australian history of the gold fields. And one of their aims seemed to be that kind of really active myth making, but in order to get up an apology for australia's races policies. I think it's a misch, mischievous use of history, and it's harnessing the indignation that everyday people wo are ethnically chinese in australia experience racism. But the nurturing of a sense of injustice based around the chinese creates the real problems.
