"I took the opportunity to ask him like questions about the war because I never really heard any of it. And he did tell me a story about flying a helicopter and suddenly there was a combatant who picked up a machine gun and pointed it right at him," she says. "It wasn't like I had pressure to like, you should be in the armed forces too, because I don't think my dad ever even necessarily wanted that for me."
