The Party and the Regime Are in Kind of Separate Worlds
There's a tension between socially progressive and politically regressive generations in china, says Am. Some young people have no good things to say about the party and the regime but others are quite happy with what they're getting out of it. The country has always been nationalistic; this generation is trying to be more like its forebears by pushing for social change at the grass roots rather than just on the top. But some think that as long as they're allowed to do things in those kind of politically safe areas, there will be a sense that you can still make an impact.
