The Relationship Between Form and Matter in Language
John Barfield's favourite line in john's gospel was, in the beginning was the word. This relationship between form and matter in language is not an accident. It's a human image of how allof reality works. And so when jesus says, you know, the wind, the pnoma, blows where it pleases. Hear the sound, which you cannot tell from whereit is come where it is going. Then thati again, this is why theories of language are not just theories of language, right? Their theories actually of human experience. The soul is the first actuality of that potential - aristotle would say.
