The Importance of Friendship
You can ignore your best friend and he or she will remain your best friend, but not unending. You know, you need to invest in friendships. And they're enormously valuable. There are a number of theories as to why they evolved. One of the reasons it has felt that they evolved is for incommensurate exchange. In other words, there are many ways in which we help each other where I give you food, but you build a fire, you know, or I share information with you. The mark of real friendship is the non expectation of immediate reciprocity.
