The Second Purification From Desire for Sinful Deeds

In like manner there are penitents who forsake sin, failing to lose the desire for it. Their hearts renounce sin and depart from it, but they do not cease to look back towards such sins. They speak of sin with a kind of satisfaction and relish and believe that those who commit such sins are happy. These weak and faint-hearted penitents abstain from sin for a time, but they sorrow at the state of affairs. The practice of general confession opens our hearts so that in our future confessions we may express ourselves with greater confidence.
