President Andrew Jackson vetoed a bill that would have made land purchases with gold. Five years later, the economy of the united states is completely destroyed. The government itself can't get its gold out of the state banks. People lose their jobs. There's not enough money around. In fact, researches have gone back and they'e figured out children who were born during the panic of 18 37 grew up to be shorter than people who were born before. They were mal nourished.
