I was wondering if you could elaborate or you asked a question, which I think is an excellent question. How is it that we started from these lofty goals and a human equality and ended up someplace bad? And you mentioned passing technology. It seems to me on reading Orwell, and then also on reading your book that at least part of the answer seems to be bound up with this question of technology to some degree. Well, he was really very sour on industrialization, full industrialization. You see, he was caught in the bind. He saw the defects of identity, but didn't want to give it up.
