Nietzsche and the Philosopher of the Future
In his later work, Nietzsche's understanding is that the philosopher is not himself the image that mankind ought to aim for. He maintains the distinction as well that he makes in his later work between the old flawed philosophers who do not fulfill the task of giving us a new image of man. The artist is able to work with the emotions like the priestly types did while not necessarily bound by the other worldly nihilism of the holy men,. meaning the artist can do great things and will be a key component in a future way of life that unifies head and heart.
