The Role of Tragic Flaws in Fantasy and Science Fiction

I think every character, almost every character is improved by a tragic flaw. And if you have someone trying to become evil and they do not have a tragic flaw, then they're probably actually a pretty good guy. You kind of have to establish the character early on and show them, you know, not even just being good, but you can't show them being normal. This goes back to what Dan said. There's a lot of death in mayhem."
