Late Night Linux

CHAPTER

Introduction

Gareth writes, I'm about to start at a company which is open source. It's the first time I'll be paid to work on code which is publicly visible but it's a startup. The real value is in working for a company which aims to make a profit by putting people onto upstream projects and learning interaction with the community. There's a lot of people who really want to work on open source and do it all publicly. That is attractive to people who are looking for a job. You get your name out there and your resume is now your GitHub page where people can see the things that you've worked on - both monetarily and career wise.
