The Problem With Mass Spectrometry
Mass spectrometry is difficult because the molecules, the parent molecules that come from the comet, they break up. The abundant ones have big peaks, and they are relatively easy to figure out. But then as soon as you are interested in more comp less abundant species, you have to sort of first remove the contribution from the more abundant ones. It took us maybe a year of afrealy, of data analysis and putting things tog, but eventually it was possible to find a likely solution.
