I still sometimes encounter people who think that it's ridiculous to look at the social and symbolic and political aspects of space endeavours in the 20th and 21st centuries. I also come across people who think because I might be critical of some aspect of space policy or space industry that this means on some you know unreconstructed luddite who never wants to go to space. There's a sort of a hardcore a hardcore hardcore of the space community for whom there are no ethical dimensions to what we're doing and there are no negative impacts on anyone.
