Ray Kurzweil: I've heard that evolution is an algorithm for optimizing coverage of a biological possibility. Maybe resource competition is such that a biogenesis is happening all the time on this planet, and it's just getting eaten before we find ita. We think origins of life on earth was a chemical origin of life. You can never make an entirely alien thing in the lab as you can.
