The Evolution of Pestis Plague Bacteria
The earliest sample of plague bacteria is from about 5000 years ago in in Western Sweden. It was extracted from a little pulp of a 5000 year old skeleton. This suggests that around 5000 4000 1000 years ago, there was perhaps a Neolithic black death that wiped out a large proportion of the population. So, as a species, what can we do to ensure we survive the threat from diseases in the future?
