Killing the Sacred Deer basically takes place in our universe. The lobster is meant to be this sort of alternate reality kind of thing. In both those movies there's a sense of I'm watching fairly real people have conversations but nothing feels real and that's very much by design obviously. It can be a little off-putting and keep you a little arm's length from the material maybe.
