Introduction
Operation Gomorrah is the climax of Bomber Command's maturation, isn't it? It's the moment when Bomber Command crosses the threshold into being as important of a moving part of the Allied war as any other. The biggest raid on September the 15th, 1940 involved 100 German bombers. If you want to destroy a city, what you need is 3000 aircraft of four engines. You know, and that's what they're doing with Hamburg.
