Cleomani's Prophecy of the Argive Men
Cleomani's took his army on boats to the territory of Tyrants and Naplea. When the Argives learned of this, they rushed to the coast to oppose him. The two armies met at a place called Sepia. Herodotus reports that the Argives did not attack immediately because they were weary of an oracle that they too had just received. They decided to avoid being tricked by carrying out all instructions that were given by the Spartan Herald. Cleomani's used deserters to learn the names of those left inside.
