The Different Approaches to the Study of Life
Aristotle sees nature as consisting of unified holes and regularly coincident parts and activities. Among the most paradigmatic of those unified beings are living things, especially animals. Study the whole animal rather than the blood and the bones for the sake of understanding the whole animal together. Top down versus bottom up: There really are two different approaches to the study of life. And then there's one where you continually remind yourself that you're working with unities.
