The Paradox of Mortality
As a conservative, I think it is really important to understand that we have a beginning, middle, an end. Although I don't necessarily want to be more than anyone else, I would prefer that I were not so inconsequential in the universe. You see a link between what you call the waning of traditional religious faith in the West and this increased determination to seek life everlasting here on Earth. Is that correct? Yes, I do.
