What Is Missalliot Coinage?
In the game rome to total war, which i'm sure quite a few of your listeners have played, or fam with of their ancient history enthusiast, the only playable greek faction is the city of messalia. And they use the lion, found on the reverse of massaliic coinage, as the city's symbol. So we actually have a lot of missalliot coinage. It was in widespread use and almost certainly influenced gallic coinage when the galls started to make their own mint,. Their coins also bore athena more often. But there is still some, some difference there.
