The Importance of Functional Expertise in Agile Transformations
When we work with a team, I try and move them from roles to skills. So you then build expertise in your silo and then eventually go up to manager because you're an expert in something. That's the management development model. There is only so much change the organization can tolerate before break. You have to start agile in silos before you start connecting them across into collections of teams that drive customer value. It's about getting 1000 teams or more to step to the right if that's what's the right thing for business. The factory mindset is the reason why a lot of these agile transformations fail.
