Copan Marsh and the US Geological Survey

In the 1870s, it was a very exciting time for paleontology. As the United States expanded its borders farther and farther west, great deposits of ancient dinosaur bones were dug up. Both Copan Marsh and his family headed out west to hunt down these fossils. But in hitting out west, Cop actually was the one with the head start.
