The History of India

India was ruled as a British colony between 1858 and 1947. The Raj contained the modern day states of India, Pakistan, Myanmar, Bangladesh and to a lesser extent Sri Lanka and the Maldives with different people and religious groups living amongst each other throughout the Raj. Fast forwarding to just after World War II with India making a push for independence and removing British rule. Millions of families moving from one area to the other in what is now known as the partition of India. To this day many famous Hindu sites sit in Pakistani territory and many Muslim sites sit in Indian territory.
