What if the Problem Isn't Texting?

Teachers are noticing a direct connection between an increase in texting and an increase in assignments handed back with errors. Where do you think that students mentality comes from? They don't believe that they're writing, even though they are. So if we could help them see all the kinds of writing that matter, they might say, i'm not a very good essay writer, but i am great at labreports or fan fiction. Then you don't feel bad, because you're not bad writer. And we teach them that you can always improve, because writing is not something you're just born able to do.
